Soorya Festival of Music, Dance and Film from Jan 17A Tigal Bandhi of Guitar, Sitar and Kathak and a Film Festival were the major attractions at the five-day Soorya Festival 2011-12, which commenced from January 17. The festival was organised by Soorya Foundation, in association with Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, as part of its annual programme. Dr Kamala Shankar and Pandit Ravi Janardhanan presented the Tigal Bandhi, in which the duo will play Guitar and Sitar, while Kathak dance was performed by Shrinka Agarwal on January 18. Gunjan Dance Academy from Cuttack presented an Odissi dance programme on the inaugural day. Eminent Carnatic vocalist Sanjay Subrahmanayam presented a vocal concert on Jan 19. Bharata Natyam Programme was given by Savita Sastri from Delhi on Jan 20. Rama Vaidyanathan also from Delhi performed Bharatha Natya on the concluding day on Jan 21. 'I am Kalam', 'Kanchivaram', 'The Japanese Wife', 'T D Dasan', 'Std VI B' and Electra, was screened from Jan 17 to 21 as part of the film festival. The music, dance and cultural programme was held at Dhanwanthari Kalakshetra, the art and cultural wing of AVP Group, while the film festival was conducted at Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hall.
